Fratelli Rossetti and Istituto Marangoni are launching the first workshop dedicated to those enrolled on the Masters in fashion accessories and luxury goods run by the top-flight international fashion school. The students will be asked to create a product that is innovative whilst remaining in touch with the brand’s values. Diego, Dario and Luca Rossetti announced the theme of the project during a meeting held with the students last 11 March on the premises of Istituto Marangoni.
The students, who have had two months to work on their proposals, will be challenged to provide a new take on the style evolution of Fratelli Rossetti’s iconic footwear (the Brera tasselled loafer and the Magenta boot). In May, the most interesting entries will be assessed by the company with a view to including them in Fratelli Rossetti collections.
The project represents the start of the partnership with Istituto Marangoni, the most authoritative Italian fashion school with an international vocation. The Institute prepares highly specialised professionals for work in the fashion system. Fratelli Rossetti’s aim is to identify new talents amongst the young designers at Istituto Marangoni for taking onboard in its Style Office.
Fratelli Rossetti was founded in 1953 by Renzo Rossetti, following a brief debut in the sports shoe sector. Renzo, who passed away in April 2010, managed to transmit the passion and pride for his work to his sons Diego, Dario and Luca, who have been running the company since 2003. The entire shareholding belongs to the family, and the head office remains in Parabiago, a key industrial centre in Lombardy, although Fratelli Rossetti has been a brand of international repute for fifty years now.
Istituto Marangoni was established in 1935. Since then, it has gone on to train a total of four generations of students, and has launched the careers of over 35,000 professionals, including some of the biggest names in international fashion such as Domenico Dolce (Dolce & Gabbana) and Franco Moschino. The mission of Istituto Marangoni has always remained the same: to train professionals for the fashion and design system with an aptitude for acquiring knowledge and know-how, and a consolidated talent for applying creativity to corporate needs. Istituto Marangoni currently has 2,400 students from 92 different countries, divided up across its four campuses in Milan, Paris, London and Shanghai, the world’s fashion capitals. It offers varied, well-structured three-year courses, intensive courses, annual masters and short courses at all levels.
