Optical illusions and visual effects for timeless classics, borrowed from the male wardrobe
19 September 2014 – Candies are the new Oxford shoes by Fratelli Rossetti that mirror the proficiency of the Milanese company’s Master Craftsmen, like contemporary paintings. Their simple lines and hand-painted details embody a meticulous production process, entirely executed in the Fratelli Rossetti workshops in Parabiago, in the outskirts of Milan. The colour is applied manually by Fratelli Rossetti craftsmen to create a soft effect that is unique every time. The complexity of the procedure is best illustrated by the natural leather profiles with a seam effect: Candies are made of a single piece, with neither cuts nor stitching. The optical illusion underlines the value of the outstanding craftsmanship. Their sensual, enveloping colours are perfect for the summer. Candies can be worn with or without socks.
The hand-painted slippers using the Toledo Bicolor technique are also part of the range. Like the Oxford shoes, they stand out thanks to their unique decorative effect: the craftsmen skilfully mix colours, using combinations of shades to create the appearance of a moccasin-like strip. The resulting products are made to the highest standards, reminiscent of the masks of 17th century Italian characters, such as Harlequin.
Fratelli Rossetti factory was founded in 1953 by visionary Renzo Rossetti in Parabiago, in the outskirts of Milan at a time when Italy moved its first steps into a concrete fashion system. The company is currently run by the second hands-on generation of the family, brothers Diego, Dario and Luca: through their passion for shoemaking, Fratelli Rossetti marked its 60th anniversary for the sake of quality. A story that allowed the brand to distinguish itself as a synonym of the utmost style, both in Italy and abroad: an enduring milestone of timeless craftsmanship.
