On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of Marilyn Monroe (5 August 1962), Fratelli Rossetti is participating in the international show “Tribute to Marilyn”, a project of the artist Alessandro Gedda. Fratelli Rossetti has also designed a limited edition pump shoe in homage to the actress: the Lady Brera, a lead model of the coming 2012-13 winter season, has been created in a “Marilyn red” crocodile version.
“Tribute to Marilyn” is a show comprised of 50 paintings centred on Marilyn Monroe. The works will be displayed at Milan’s Società Umanitaria from 19 June to 10 July 2012 (Via Francesco Daverio 7; daily from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and subsequently in Cannes, Lugano and Moscow. In addition to the paintings, “Tribute to Marilyn” will also feature five sculptures by Alessandro Gedda inspired by the Lady Brera.
Five Fratelli Rossetti boutiques – Florence, Milan, Paris, New York and Moscow – will pay homage to Marilyn Monroe by hosting the limited edition, the sculptures and related paintings in their display windows. The first stop is Florence on the occasion of Pitti Uomo (19-22 June 2012), followed by Milano Moda Uomo (23-27 June) and continuing with Paris Fashion Week and ending in New York and Moscow.
Alessandro Gedda has held over 100 shows in Italy and abroad from 2007 to the present that have helped the artist gain a following. Gedda has also exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, the Museion in Bolzano, the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg, Art Basel in Miami and the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
