Fratelli Rossetti recently celebrated the reopening of its boutique in via Borgognona 5A, situated in the heart of the Campo Marzio district in Rome. It was the company’s traditional footwear manufacturing methods that were the inspiration behind the company’s choice of design, materials and fittings for the restyling of its new concept store.
The boutique’s makeover includes pale, vintage teak flooring and naturally dyed Turkish rugs, purposely faded to emphasize their original designs, calling to mind the traditional methods for dyeing and treating the hides used to make footwear.
The resins and hand-painted decorations, along with the brushed cement masonry in tobacco, dove-grey and chestnut colours, create a uniformity of surfaces and colours that reflect the intricate nature of the artisanal product, which, although perfectly made, is full of imperfections and irregularities that make it truly unique.
The chrome metal and the burnished effect of the brass used for the window backdrops, lends the boutique a sophisticated allure, and calls to mind the finest, high quality materials used for Fratelli Rossetti’s handcrafted products.
The meeting of tradition and innovation is reflected in the contrast between the mirror wall, onto which videos will be projected, and the mosaic wall made of coloured leather pieces, hand-buffed using the Toledo technique: the perfection of digital technology contrasting with the tradition of the company’s hand-made product methods.
It was in this pursuit of aesthetics that the values that Fratelli Rossetti hold dear could be seen most clearly: craftsmanship combined with a focus on innovation and testing.
To celebrate the boutique’s reopening, a cocktail party was held on Wednesday 4 May at 6.30 p.m., during which Fratelli Rossetti presented a limited edition item: a sneaker with hand-painted fluorescent detail, an exclusive reworking of one of the models from the current summer collection. The partner for the occasion was Distillerie Fratelli Branca, who presented a special cocktail made with Fernet-Branca.
